Practical

Position approx: plotted at the OpenStreetMap node for Paepae Piki Vehine, which the official brief (2023) says is next door to Paepae Temehea on the waterfront. The brief says Temehea was built in 1989 for the Matava'a festival and carries stone sculptures. On the waterfront road in town; read the bilingual (French/English) sign on site. Nearby on the shore side, by the western cemetery, is the carved Melville monument marking the route Herman Melville took when he deserted ship here in 1842 and walked over to the Taipivai valley.
