Takapoto Mairie Annexe and Landing Caveats (Fakatopatere)

14° 42.3′ S · 145° 15.0′ W

The town-hall building of pass-less Takapoto, an associated commune of Takaroa: report here if you land, because there is no lagoon access and no yacht anchorage in our sources.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap town-hall building in Fakatopatere. The 2024 atoll sheet lists the pass as 'closed'; the delegate mayor is Anania Mack Maheahea (July 2020). The commune seat and the gendarmerie that asks yachts to check in are on Takaroa, 9 km away (see Takaroa Gendarmerie Check-In); Takapoto is NOT a port of entry. Landing caveats: the Fakatopatere landing has 25 m with 2.10 m and is used by supply ships; the Okukina ocean-side landing, used in heavy swell, is damaged (2024 sheet). Only attempt a dinghy landing from a boat standing off in settled E-NE trades with someone aboard, never at night. Drinking water from the commune fountain at 6 XPF per litre; post office hours are in the magasins entry; no ATM.
