The main hospital of the Marquesas sits on the east side of Taiohae near the gendarmerie and post office; the pharmacy is across the bay up the Hoata valley.

Position approx: plotted at the Taiohae dinghy dock (NE corner of the bay, from the 2016 no-anchoring-zone corner 8°54.74'S 140°05.91'W); the building itself is a short walk away, see directions. Hospital: turn right out of the dock area, past the post office, on the right. Tel +689 40 92 02 00; emergencies +689 40 91 02 16 (2020, verify). Evacuation to Tahiti can be arranged. Pharmacy: +689 40 91 00 90, pharmacie.nukuhiva@mail.pf, Mon-Fri 7:30am-noon and 2:30pm-5pm, Sat 9am-11am (2020); turn left on the main road, right on the 3rd street just past the cathedral, first left, up a steep hill (about a 30-minute walk or a taxi). Dentist: Dr Pierre Puech, +689 40 92 04 18, clinic on the ground floor of his home (cash only; past Magasin Celine, over the bridge, turn right and ask). There was no vet on the island by 2022.
