St Raphael Church (Aukena)
23° 8.0′ S · 134° 54.9′ W · approximate
A small missionary-era coral-stone church in Aukena's south, kept in a manicured garden by a caretaker who lives alone at the beach.
Practical
approx: Wikipedia places the church in the south of Aukena. The pin is just ashore of the SW anchorage and may be off by a few hundred metres. Antonio, the caretaker (2013-2015 reports), lived in the small beach house. He welcomed company, gave visitors papayas and knew the trails. He doesn't drink or smoke but likes baked goods. Respect the private north side and Bernard's frontage.
Best for
A peaceful walk ashore from the Aukena anchorage
