Rua Vahine Motu Anchorage (Apataki)
15° 36.5′ S · 146° 20.5′ W · approximate
A tiny motu on Apataki's south rim with a tuft of coconut palms, a little fare, a beach of crushed coral and incredibly clear water: no lights, no sound but the surf.
Practical
Sea-seek gives the motu at 15°36.58'S 146°20.50'W; this entry is placed about 200 m north of that point in the lagoon, where sea-seek says you can anchor in 3-4 m. Nehenehe (2018) found people now living on Rua Vahine with a fairly large house; ask before landing. Blacktip and reef sharks patrol the shallows. Calm water but not sheltered from the wind; good for kiting and windsurfing (2011).
