Niutahi Village Anchorage (Apataki)
15° 33.9′ S · 146° 24.3′ W
Anchorage just inside Pakaka Pass on its north side, off Apataki's only village of Niutahi, with the wharf, post office, store and airstrip a dinghy ride away.
Practical
Position 15°33.872'S 146°24.284'W, 10-12 m sand and coral, floats needed (Sugar Shack, Sept 2019); Nakia anchored at 15°33.941'S 146°24.211'W in 37 ft for dinghy access to the quay (2010). South of the pass is crowded with pearl-farm buoys; north of the pass is shallow on the chart, so pick your spot in good light. Some protection from the E chop. Alternatively tie to the quay in the pass (see Niutahi Quay). Pakaka Pass current affects the area near the pass.
