Rangiroa Pro Surf Contest (Avatoru)

A World Surf League Qualifying Series contest held each March on the reef waves at Avatoru, drawing about 80 local and international surfers to near-perfect tubes beside the pass.

Approx: placed on the Tahiti Heritage Avatoru Pass pin; the contest runs at the Avatoru surf spot beside the pass. Tahiti Tourisme lists it in March, organised by the WSL and the Federation Tahitienne de Surf. The 2025 edition (Air Tahiti Rangiroa Pro) was the final stop of the Hawaii/Tahiti regional QS and finished on Friday, March 7, 2025. Expect extra boat traffic near Avatoru Pass and fuller pensions and flights that week. Watch from shore or a well-anchored dinghy clear of the surf line; dates move with swell, so check the WSL calendar.
