Avatoru Sortie Droite (Avatoru outer wall)

14° 56.4′ S · 147° 42.6′ W · approximate

An easy outgoing-tide wall dive about 150 m from the corner of Avatoru Pass, known for big whitetip reef sharks and a large school of bigeye trevally.

Practical

Approx: placed about 150 m along the eastern outer reef (the right-hand side looking seaward) from the Avatoru Pass mouth (Tahiti Tourisme pin 14.94143S 147.71185W). All levels; shallower than the Tiputa sites (6 Passengers dive centre; Tahiti Tourisme gives 15-21 m for Avatoru Pass diving). The pass orientation makes it easy to work back toward the pass, and the dive loops round the mouth. Good choice when Tiputa is too rough.
