Pension Pukuee Restaurant (Hakahau)

9° 21.6′ S · 140° 2.7′ W

A hillside pension and restaurant about 100 m above the harbour, run by Jerome, a French army veteran married to a Marquesan. It has big views over Hakahau Bay, and Jerome has also given cruisers good island tours by car.

Practical

Coordinate from OpenStreetMap (Pukuee Mave Mai, restaurant/hotel). Reached by the first road to the left from the dock, the same road that starts the Cross hike. Jacaranda (2015): Jerome's island tour was very good, priced per car, so it is cheaper per head with a full car. Book meals in advance.
