Pakokota Anchorage (Fakarava, closed)
16° 13.5′ S · 145° 33.4′ W
The site of the former Pakokota Yacht Services and lodge, a popular mid-atoll mooring field in older guides. It closed in 2022, and the moorings are gone.
Practical
Position 16°13.528'S 145°33.413'W. Pakokota Yacht Services and Lodge closed and was sold in June 2022: no services and no mooring balls (Soggy Paws compendium; Noonsite comments 2023). The three floats with thin line in front of the neighbouring property are not moorings: they have bricks tied on to sink the pennants. That owner asks boats not to anchor there. Do not confuse it with Fakarava Yacht Services in Rotoava, a separate business that is still operating. Anchoring here is also outside the 2024 designated zones.
