Havaiki Pearl Farm and Guest House (Fakarava)

16° 4.4′ S · 145° 36.9′ W

The oldest working pearl farm on Fakarava (founded 1989), with a lagoon-front lodge and boutique. Visitors watch a graft, pick an oyster and keep whatever pearl it holds.

Practical

Ph +689 40 93 40 15, info@havaiki.com. The farm visit covers Tahitian pearl culture; you choose a shell, harvest your own pearl, and can have it set (havaiki.com). Walkabout (2023) reported a Black Pearl talk at 9 am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with an oyster lottery. Soggy Paws: tours should be prearranged, and the boutique opens around 5:30 pm on weekdays (verify). Lunch at the Snack du Requin Dormeur; a long dock for dinghies. About 2 km south of the quay.
