Magasin JoJo (Rikitea)

23° 6.9′ S · 134° 58.3′ W · approximate

Rikitea's most cruiser-friendly store: red awning, no sign, and the only shop where you can walk the aisles yourself, plus a small cafe on the shore.

Practical

approx: placed in Rikitea village from the compendium's walking directions relative to the main dock and St Michael Cathedral (Wikipedia position); expect an error of up to about 300 m. Turn right (north) from the main dock, past the bakery, on the right. You can also beach the dinghy right behind it. Hours (2021): Mon-Fri 8 am-6 pm, Sat 8 am-12 pm, Sun 10 am-12 pm. Good range of dry goods, frozen meat and drinks. Fresh produce goes out the day after the supply ship arrives and sells out fast. Also offers early-morning baguettes and pastries (reserve the day before), French propane bottles, expensive gasoline (about US$10 per gallon in 2021), and laundry that takes 2-5 days. The cafe serves breakfast and lunch Mon-Sat 10:30 am-1:30 pm (2021). Wifi is given only to paying customers, so buy something, use it briefly and leave. JoJo has shut it off when cruisers loitered. A case of 20 beers cost 7,200 XPF here in Dec 2020 (verify locally).
