Ivaiva Nui and Ivaiva Iti Anchorages (Tahuata)
9° 54.8′ S · 139° 6.5′ W
Two small sandy coves just south of Hanamoenoa, with a farm above the beach. They are a quiet alternative to the main bay when it is crowded.
Practical
Ivaiva Iti: 09°54.752'S 139°06.476'W (2009). A 2016 report gives about 09°54.7'S 139°06.4'W in 25 ft sand, room for 2-3 boats, and you can tuck further in. Ivaiva Nui is the next inlet south (OpenStreetMap). Less swell protection than Hanamoenoa; one crew moved back to Hanatefau when swell rose (2009). Gusts to 25 kn from the ESE were logged here in strong trades (2018). They are not among the zones proposed in the 2026 brief, so check Escales before overnighting once Tahuata zones come into force.
