Atuona's administrative centre is where visiting yachts pay Hiva Oa's tourist tax and small monthly water and waste fees after clearing in.

Coordinate is the 'Centre Administratif' town hall on OpenStreetMap. 2026 fees, payable in cash or by card: waste 500 XPF per boat per month; water 1,000 XPF per boat per month; tourist tax 60 XPF per person (over 12 years) per day. Waste disposal for yachts is only at Tahauku wharf; do not leave rubbish in other valleys or on Tahuata or Fatu Hiva. The town hall can point you to environmental volunteering.
