Gauguin's last home, the 'Maison du Jouir', rebuilt on its original site in the village centre, with a gallery of reproductions tracing his final years on Hiva Oa.
Practical
Admission 600 XPF (My Little Polynesia; same price reported by cruisers in 2019). The reconstructed Maison du Jouir is beside the gallery (OpenStreetMap). Gauguin arrived by schooner in 1901 and bought land from the bishop (Tahiti Tourisme). Hours are not published by official sources; most of Atuona closes in the early afternoon, so go in the morning. The Brel space is next door (500 XPF extra).
