Anapoto Beaches (Rimatara)

22° 38.5′ S · 152° 49.2′ W

A string of white-sand beaches on Rimatara's west coast at Anapoto, inside the narrow fringing reef, which guides single out as the island's beaches not to miss.

Practical

Coordinate is an OSM-mapped beach at Anapoto; further mapped beaches run north to about 22°38.2'S near the airport. The 'lagoon' is almost nonexistent, just a shallow reef flat with small coves of fossil coral (feo), so swim at high water in calm weather. Nearby swimming spots named by ideoz: Tamarii a Tara ('virgins' bath', a natural rock pool near Motu Rare Apo) and Raro Apo / Mauna Teitei for picnics; Tahiti Tourisme's 'Baie des Vierges' is a series of sheltered coves with a natural pool (positions not published, ask locally). Land access only from the yacht roadstead via the north landing.

Best for

Swimming and a beach picnic
