Anchorage· Šipan· Croatia — Dalmatia
Šipanska Luka, Šipan
42° 43.8′ N · 17° 51.5′ E · approximate
A long, narrow inlet at the north-west end of Šipan, the largest Elaphite island, with an old village of stone summer houses at its head. Quiet, green and well sheltered from most directions.
Practical
Coordinate is approximate, in the inlet off the village. Anchor south of the quay light in about 5–6 m on mud and sand, or take a restaurant buoy (Konoba Kod Marka is the best known; book ahead). Space is limited because buoys fill much of the bay. Good shelter except from the NW and SW; anything easterly can also make it uncomfortable. Ferry and catamaran use the quay, so keep it clear; you may lie on the north-east side of the quay. Small shops, bakery and restaurants in the village. No fuel.
