Polače Harbour
42° 47.2′ N · 17° 22.7′ E
A long, island-sheltered inlet on Mljet's north coast inside the national park, with a Roman palace by the quay and restaurants along the shore. One of the best-protected harbours in the southern Adriatic and a park entrance for the lakes.
Practical
Coordinate is the harbour (OSM 'Luka Polače'). Most of the south-side quay is run by restaurants: dine ashore and you get a laid mooring, often with water and power. Otherwise anchor in Luka Polače; the NW side has excellent holding, but avoid the rocky patch west of the palace ruins. Quays have about 3–4 m; less than 1 m west of the ferry jetty. The park allows anchoring in Polače bay from Lunđina to Rt Lenga and the nearby area to Kobrava islet. 2026 Mljet National Park vessel ticket, per boat per day (valid until noon the next day), bought in the park / on the park webshop: Jun–Sep 7–10.99 m €70 / €60, 11–17.99 m €100 / €90, 18–24.99 m €160 / €150; Oct–May half that or less (e.g. 11–17.99 m €50 / €40). The vessel ticket does not include the lakes: each person also needs a visitor ticket (adults €30 Jun–Sep, €20 rest of year; children 8–18 €8 / €5; under 7 free). Strong east wind can send a chop in; then go to Pomena. Bakery, small grocery, tourist office. No fuel (nearest Sobra). Park VHF 17. Bus or park train to the lakes.
