Mljet National Park – Lakes, tickets & vessel fees

42° 46.5′ N · 17° 21.4′ E

The western third of Mljet has been a national park since 1960. Its heart is two saltwater lakes, Veliko and Malo jezero, joined to the sea by a narrow channel and ringed by pine forest. Boats in Polače, Pomena and the park waters need a park vessel ticket, and everyone who goes ashore to the lakes needs a visitor ticket.

Practical

Coordinate is Veliko jezero (OSM). 2026 Mljet National Park vessel ticket, per boat per day (valid until noon the next day), bought in the park / on the park webshop: Jun–Sep 7–10.99 m €70 / €60, 11–17.99 m €100 / €90, 18–24.99 m €160 / €150; Oct–May half that or less (e.g. 11–17.99 m €50 / €40). The vessel ticket does not include the lakes: each person also needs a visitor ticket (adults €30 Jun–Sep, €20 rest of year; children 8–18 €8 / €5; under 7 free). The visitor ticket covers one return trip on the solar boat to St Mary's islet, all inland park sites, the marked trails round the lakes and to the Montokuc and Veliki Gradac lookouts, the electric train, and insurance. An extra boat trip to St Mary's is €5. One-day visitor tickets bought in the park after 4 pm are 25% cheaper. Park office: Pristanište 2, Goveđari, +385 20 744 041. Rules: 5 kn speed limit within 150 m of the shore and in the Soline channel and Great Lake; private yachts may not enter the lakes or the Soline channel (rowing boats only in Malo jezero); no diving in the lakes; fishing only with a park licence and never in the lakes; no discharge of grey or black water; no anchoring on seagrass; no anchoring in most park waters except the zones at Polače and Pomena (see those entries).
