Cavtat Harbour (Luka)

42° 34.9′ N · 18° 12.8′ E

A pretty old town on the Rat peninsula, about 10 nm south-east of Dubrovnik, with a palm-lined quay and a bay on each side of the peninsula. It is the seasonal port of entry for boats coming up from Montenegro.

Practical

Coordinate is the harbour bay (OSM 'Cavtatska luka'). Moor stern- or bows-to on the town quay (1–4 m at the quay) or anchor in the bay in about 7–19 m; space is tight in summer and the quay fills by mid-afternoon. The bay in front of the town has rocky patches; anchor where you see sand. Approach from the north passing west of Supetar islet and the Velika Plićina shoal; from the south pass midway between Mrkan and the mainland. The harbour is open to the west and north-west; in strong westerlies move to Tiha. Some buoys in the bay are for local boats only. Water in the village; shops, bank, restaurants on the waterfront. VHF 10/16.
