The Cliff (Dive Site)

12° 10.5′ N · 68° 17.4′ W

One of Bonaire's rare true vertical walls, starting about 18 m down just north of town - plate corals, sea whips and big barrel sponges, with tarpon and eagle rays off the face.

Practical

Wall from about 18 m to 40 m+; shallows from 3 m (bonaire.com). Entry by steps behind the Dive Friends shop at the yellow stone marker; parking there is for Hamlet Oasis guests and Dive Friends customers only - others park on the main road. Current moderate, up to 1-2 knots at depth per bonaire.com; watch depth on the wall. Night diving for experienced divers only. Also called Small Wall in some lists (bonaire.com). Busy boat traffic - ascend with an SMB. Shore dive: no yacht anchoring anywhere in the Marine Park. From a yacht, come by dinghy and tie to the yellow STINAPA public mooring (2 consecutive hours max, boats up to 13 m, moor by the bow; STINAPA), or drive. Nature fee required (US$40 per calendar year per bonaire.com); no gloves, no touching or feeding, reef-safe sunscreen; an orientation dive is mandatory on arrival and an SMB is recommended (STINAPA). Check STINAPA's SCTLD stoplight map before diving and move from green to yellow to red sites, never the reverse. Coordinate: OpenStreetMap dive-site marker ('Cliff').
