Ebo's Reef (Klein Bonaire)

12° 9.9′ N · 68° 17.7′ W · approximate

A gentle Klein Bonaire site named after Ebo Domacassé, one of Bonaire's first dive instructors, known for its huge elephant-ear sponges on a slope that steepens into a wall.

Practical

Maximum about 25 m on a sandy bottom; gradual slope from about 5 m (bonaire.com). Current usually light. Elephant-ear and tube sponges, turtles, morays; tarpon seasonally. Do not confuse with Ebo's Special on the north side. Boat dive only. Yachts may not anchor anywhere around Klein Bonaire: go by dinghy from the Kralendijk moorings (about 1 km across the channel) and tie to the yellow STINAPA dive mooring (2-hour limit, max 13 m, by the bow; STINAPA), or join a dive-shop boat. Klein Bonaire has no facilities; boats landing people ashore must use the marked landing zone at No Name Beach (STINAPA, 2018-19). Nature fee and SCTLD rules apply (STINAPA). Trade-wind chop in the channel and north swells can make the dinghy ride wet; north-side sites are cancelled in strong NE wind (bonaire.com). Coordinate approx: bonaire.com's pin falls on the north shore beside Ebo's Special, but Divers Guide lists Ebo's Reef 0.98 km from Bari Reef, 1.02 km from No Name Beach and 0.17 km from Jerry's Reef, which places it off Klein Bonaire's northeast corner facing Kralendijk; position derived from those distances and set about 140 m off the OSM shoreline.
