SS Pedernales Wreck
12° 34.7′ N · 70° 3.5′ W
The scattered midsection of a lake tanker torpedoed by U-156 at San Nicolas on February 16, 1942 - now a shallow, easy wreck dive off Aruba's hotel coast.
Practical
After the attack the damaged midsection was used as a Dutch Navy bombing target, scattering it into eight pieces; the three largest sections are dived daily by local operators in about 25 ft (8 m) of water (Wikipedia). Shallow enough for snorkellers on calm days. Moorings on the wrecks off the hotel coast are for charter/dive boats - come by dinghy or with a dive operator (Virgintino 2015). Coordinate: Wikipedia wreck position.
Best for
Easy wreck dive or snorkel with WWII history
