Scott's Anchorage & West End Moorings (Cayman Brac)

19° 41.6′ N · 79° 52.8′ W · approximate

The north-west corner of Cayman Brac near the airport, where cruisers pick up free DoE moorings over shallow reefs and the Captain Keith Tibbetts wreck.

Practical

Coordinate approximate (off the north-west shore, inshore of the DoE moorings for the Tibbetts and Buccaneer Reef). Virgintino lists Scott's Anchorage (NW corner) and Stake Bay (NW side) as anchorages, with many dive sites in about 15 ft. The north side is often rolly as easterly swell wraps around; a 2023 boat stayed four days in NE-SE winds and was chased out by a northerly - there is no all-weather harbour. Use the free DoE moorings (white with yellow line) rather than anchoring; the marine park allows boats of 60 ft or less to anchor in sand only. The airport is about a 15-minute walk from the dock (2023), with car rental (about US$30/day, 2023). Barracudas bar served wood-fired pizza (2023).
