Gaigirgordub is the comarca's small capital: an airstrip with scheduled light-aircraft flights to Panama City, a museum, the Guna Congreso and Immigration offices and a handful of buildings, making it the easiest crew-change point in the western islands.
Practical
Coordinate: Gaigirgordub island (Wikipedia). Air Panama and FlyTrip operate commercial flights to El Porvenir from Albrook (Marcos A. Gelabert, PAC) airport in Panama City (Wikivoyage); flights take about 30 minutes, schedules are limited and weather-dependent, so book ahead in high season. Charter flights also reach Corazón de Jesús and Playón Chico (Noonsite 2018). Immigration is present; the Port Captain/Port Authority is not (cruising permit and zarpe must be obtained on the mainland). Few provisions; groceries are across the water on Wichubhuala. Aircraft noise in the anchorage.
