Palapa Bar & Grill (San Pedro)

17° 55.4′ N · 87° 57.5′ W

San Pedro's classic over-the-water bar: a thatched palapa at the end of a dock just north of downtown, where people float in inner tubes alongside and have buckets of beer lowered down to them. Rebuilt after Hurricane Earl in 2016 and now on Boca del Rio Drive.

Practical

Position: OpenStreetMap (Palapa Bar & Grill, cuisine barbecue/grill). Reachable by golf cart, taxi, bicycle or water taxi, which drops you at the dock (AFAR). Burgers, pulled pork and the sausage dip are the recommended plates; live music most days (AFAR, Belize Adventure). Sources disagree on location history: AFAR still describes it as 1.5 miles north of town, while Belize Adventure says it moved closer to downtown, to the old Wet Willy's site - use the OSM position and confirm. Ask before leaving a dinghy at the dock; it is busy with water taxis. Wayo's Beach Bar is on a dock close by.

Best for
