North Creek (Grand Turk hurricane hole)

21° 29.5′ N · 71° 8.4′ W

A 320-acre nearly landlocked lagoon in northern Grand Turk, the island's only all-round shelter and a traditional hurricane hole — if you can get through the cut.

Practical

Shallow-draft boats only (Noonsite). The entrance cut at the north end has about 6 ft in most places (marinas.com, dated) but breaks and becomes impassable in northerly or easterly winds and swell; wait for a proper weather window. The inlet has historically opened and closed with hurricanes (Visit TCI). Kayak tours run in the mangroves. Some call it Columbus Lake for the landfall theory.
