Cockburn Town Anchorage (Grand Turk)

21° 29.0′ N · 71° 9.1′ W

Open roadstead off the capital's west-coast beaches, inside breaks in the reef, a short dinghy ride from Front Street, the museum and dive shops — with the wall only a few hundred yards out.

Practical

Noonsite position off the town 21°28.95'N 071°09.12'W. Cruiser report (2023): about 2.8 m on shallow sand over rock, holding not the best. marinas.com (dated) describes three anchorages between Pillory Beach (no anchoring there) and Boaby Rock Point, 7–11 ft on sand once inside the reef. Comfortable in the trades but uncomfortable in westerlies. Small public dinghy dock in Cockburn Town. Cruise ships take precedence near the southern anchorage; police may board boats that stay long in the government harbour. No marinas for private yachts. Columbus Landfall National Park: anchor on sand only.
