Fort Oranje & Kralendijk Town Pier
12° 8.9′ N · 68° 16.6′ W
A small 1639 fort guarding the harbour, with Bonaire's 1932 stone lighthouse inside its walls, sits beside the town pier where the 1935 fish market and Wilhelmina Park anchor Kralendijk's compact old centre.
Practical
Fort Oranje was built in 1639, never saw action, restored 1999 and served as the courthouse until 2011 (Wikipedia). The Fish Market (1935) now also hosts fruit and vegetables brought by boat from Venezuela - weekly per Wikipedia, twice weekly at the town pier per Virgintino (2015); verify the current schedule. Kaya Grandi is the main shopping street. Large cruise ships berth at the town piers - expect crowds on ship days. Coordinate: OpenStreetMap Fort Oranje.
