Fort George Cay cannons
21° 53.6′ N · 72° 5.6′ W
Snorkel over 18th-century cannons lying in the shallows where Fort St. George — built by Loyalists in 1795 against pirates and privateers — has eroded into the sea.
Practical
The cay has lost about 150 ft to erosion in 200 years, so the guns now sit just off the north-end beach. Protected historical site and national park: look, don't touch or take. A spectacular sand spit and sandbars stretch toward Pine Cay on the west side.
Best for
History snorkel and sandbar walk
