Bellefield Landing anchorage & channel (North Caicos)

21° 54.4′ N · 72° 2.7′ W · approximate

The working ferry and cargo port of North Caicos, reached by a 2-mile dredged channel from the cut between Dellis Cay and Parrot Cay, which Visit TCI rates the best anchoring area on an otherwise exposed or swampy coast.

Practical

Coordinate approximate: about 0.2 nm west of the Bellefield Landing marker (21.9075, -72.04086), in the approach channel; sound your way in and anchor clear of the ferry track. Visit TCI says the north coasts of North and Middle Caicos are too exposed and the rest is shallow wetland, so Bellefield Landing and the adjacent Parrot Cay Channel offer the best conditions. The channel was dredged in 2007; parts had concrete sidings that have since fallen into disrepair, and re-dredging is planned, so expect less depth than charted. All Provo ferries (Caribbean Cruisin', MV My Girl) land here, and car-rental and tour companies meet them. A welcome centre (late 2022) has restrooms, shade, small shops and a restaurant; Kew and Wade's Green Plantation are a short drive away. Not a port of entry.
