Bucuti Lagoon Anchorage & Aruba Yacht Club

12° 29.8′ N · 70° 1.0′ W · approximate

Called by Virgintino the most protected anchorage in Aruba: a shallow lagoon behind the reef south of the Bucuti yacht club and Varadero, with a bird-filled mini-lagoon for dinghy exploring.

Practical

Anchor in sand and grass in about 7 ft, good holding; the whole area is shallow (Virgintino 2015). The yacht club (OSM: Yacht Club Aruba) is private but welcomed visiting boats with space in 2015: stern-to between pilings, 6-7 ft, fuel, gas refills, water and electric. Dinghy to the marina dock and its bar; buses nearby are irregular. Coordinate approx: just south of the OSM yacht-club position; sound your way in. UPDATE (Noonsite, February 2026): the Bucuti Yacht Club is exclusively for members with no room for visiting yachts - use the anchorage or neighbouring Varadero (fuel dock, about 15 visitor berths). Noonsite still rates Bucuti Lagoon/SE airport the most protected anchorage on the island, with good holding.
