Brick Bay Anchorage (Roatán)

16° 20.2′ N · 86° 28.7′ W · approximate

A small, enclosed south-coast bay west of French Harbour, home to Barefoot Cay marina — long regarded as one of Roatán's decent hurricane holes.

Practical

Approximate: placed inside the bay between OSM's Brick Bay neighbourhood node (16.3369, -86.48553) and Barefoot Cay Marina, checked against OSM coastline; not a sounded position. A 2003 Cruising World piece (quoted on the NW Caribbean wiki) says French Harbour and Brick Bay offer decent hurricane holes and cruisers weathered Hurricane Mitch there. 2005 Noonsite notes (via OCC) list Brick Bay Marina with 8 ft alongside. A 2008 note records a fuel truck delivering 100 gal to Brick Bay. Space is limited — ask the marina before anchoring. Mary's Place dive site is just offshore.
