Boka Sint Michiel (Boka Sami) - Not a Designated Anchorage
12° 8.8′ N · 68° 59.9′ W
The fishing village bay of Sint Michiel (Boka Sami) west of Willemstad is outside Curaçao's designated anchoring areas - a place to visit by car or dive boat, not to anchor.
Practical
Per the Curaçao Ports Authority's August 2025 clarification to Noonsite, the Harbour Master issues anchor permits only for Spanish Water, Fuik Baai, Santa Martha, Santa Cruz, Piscadera Baai and Klein Curaçao; it warned that misinformation about other spots circulates on crowd-sourced apps, and named Westpunt Bai North and South as NOT recognised anchorages. Boka Sint Michiel is not a designated area, so no permit is issued for it. The nearest legal anchorage is Piscadera Baai, about 3 nm east (max 3 nights). The Boka Sami/Snake Bay dive sites off the cliffs are reached from shore or by dive boat (Curaçao Tourist Board). Coordinate: OpenStreetMap beach node.
