Bluefield Lagoon Anchorage (Bahía Azul, Valiente Peninsula)

9° 9.1′ N · 81° 54.1′ W

A deep, rarely visited bay on the Kusapín (Valiente) Peninsula with tempting side coves, a trail across to empty Caribbean surf, and no hostels or restaurants at all.

Practical

Position is the GeoNames Bahía Azul bay point. Bahía Azul is the Ngäbe village on the bay and Punta Bluefield is at 9.18350, -81.91999 (GeoNames). A 2016 cruising account describes 'Laguna de Bluefield' as a deep bay with deep, tempting coves, a trail from the far end to the ocean side, and empty surf breaks. There are no hostels or restaurants, so arrive provisioned. This is Ngäbe-Buglé comarca land, so ask permission before landing. Our sources give no depths, so enter in good light with the Bauhaus guide. Playa Raya and Tobobe (separate entries) are nearby.
