Utila's best shore snorkel: from the double-storey dock in front of Coral View, the reef starts less than 30 yards from the ladder.
Practical
The coordinate is Coral View Beach Resort from OpenStreetMap; the Blue Bayou Beach Bar is next door at 16.08913, -86.91224. It's about half a mile past the public Chepes Beach and walkable from town. Utila Guide (date not stated): a small dock fee of about US$2, usually waived if you buy food or drinks. Wikivoyage says snorkel gear rents for about US$5-15. Coral View also rents kayaks at the southern entrance of the mangrove canal. From a yacht in East Harbour this is a long dinghy ride along the south shore; most cruisers walk or take a tuk-tuk (US$1-3, Wikivoyage).
