Bell Sound Nature Reserve (South Caicos)

21° 31.4′ N · 71° 30.9′ W

A shallow turquoise lagoon wrapped by South Caicos' northern peninsula, and the string of mangrove cays toward East Caicos — the finest serious paddling area in the islands.

Practical

2,857-acre nature reserve; fishing is illegal inside it, but the flats outside are world-class for bonefish, tarpon and barracuda. Too shallow for yachts — explore by kayak or dinghy. The Cove Restaurant at Sailrock sits on the sound.

Best for

Kayaking and flats fishing
