A former fishing village turned departure point for Saona tours, with pastel wooden houses, beach cafés and day-tripper catamarans crowding a pair of small bays. Outside tour hours it is quiet and very pretty.

Practical

Waypoint from the Virgintino DR guide (~2015). Two bays: the NE bay fills with tripper boats and coral; the other has many mooring buoys in use, but you can find space among them. Moderate protection in the lee of the headland with an occasional small swell. Tour boats run about 9 to 11am and 3 to 6pm (guide). You cannot clear Immigration here; the Navy (comandancia building at the start of the public beach) will direct you to La Romana. Fuel dock at the SW end of the bay shoals from 6 ft to 4 ft at the dock. Little water: buy 5-gallon jugs at the colmado.
