Snorkel· Long Island· Bahamas — Eleuthera, Andros & the Out Islands
West Blue Hole (Thompson Bay day trip)
23° 16.0′ N · 75° 7.2′ W
A 33-ft-deep blue hole in the middle of a 3-4 ft hard rock bank about 4 miles south of Thompson Bay, a lunch-stop snorkel with beachcombing nearby.
Practical
ActiveCaptain: approach from the north as far as depth allows and anchor in hard sand; a claw anchor held for lunch, but reviewers would not stay overnight. Shallow-draft boats or dinghies only; land on the beach just beyond the hole.
Best for
A day-trip blue-hole snorkel from Thompson Bay
Season
Calm, settled days only
