Uncle Charlie's Blue Hole

25° 6.7′ N · 78° 2.4′ W

A small, very deep inland blue hole in the pine forest west of Nicholls Town, also called Little Frenchman Blue Hole; bahamas.com lists its maximum depth as 417 ft, and a rope swing drops swimmers into its dark, tidal water.

Practical

Position from OpenStreetMap (centroid of the mapped hole). Bahamas.com's listing coordinate points at Andros Town, not here, so ignore it. Access by car or taxi from Nicholls Town or Morgan's Bluff: a dirt road just past Andros Island Gases and the North Andros Auto Center, after the Red Bays turn-off (Cosmos Mariners). Infrastructure is minimal: a small jumping platform and rope swing to get in, a rope ladder to get out (go slowly). Unlike Captain Bill's it is tidal and has a sharper thermocline; the cave system below is tidal and confusing, so no cave or cavern diving without a qualified cave guide. Life jackets recommended for weaker swimmers. Tourist office phone on bahamas.com: 242-329-4487.
