Conch Sound Oceanic Blue Hole
25° 6.9′ N · 78° 0.0′ W
An ocean blue hole in the shallow lagoon off Conch Sound settlement, inside the North Andros barrier reef, where cool, clear water boils up from the cave mouth and draws snapper and grouper.
Practical
Position from OpenStreetMap (mapped sinkhole in the water just off the Conch Sound shore, near a small pier at 25.1156 N, 77.9981 W). A second OSM pin with the same name at Morgan's Bluff harbour is misplaced. Go by dinghy from the Nicholls Town or Bethel Channel anchorages, or walk in from Conch Sound Drive. ActiveCaptain warns that the water off Conch Sound and Conch Bay is a maze of coral heads: dinghy only, in good overhead light. Ocean holes run strong tidal currents in and out: snorkel near slack water and stay out of the throat on the inflow. Depth not published in the sources used.
Best for
A dinghy snorkel on an ocean blue hole near Nicholls Town
Season
