Hog Cay Anchorage (Long Island)
23° 36.2′ N · 75° 20.6′ W
A small, pretty bay on the west side of private Hog Cay, just south of Joe Sound, with room for two or three boats and a reef to snorkel off the stern.
Practical
ActiveCaptain: enter the small bay from south of the large rock in its centre, then go north; anchor in sand in the middle (about 10 ft MLW), as the edges are rock. Great holding. No more protection than Calabash from north-west and open to the west; Atlantic rollers can wrap round the north end at night. Hog Cay is private with cameras: do not go above the high-tide line and do not anchor close in front of the houses. Go ashore at St Lucy Cay instead. Joe Sound cannot be entered from here.
Best for
A quiet overnight with snorkelling in settled easterlies
Season
Nov–May in E–SE winds; open W
