Golden Rock Anchorage (Mayaguana)

22° 18.2′ N · 72° 48.9′ W

A short-stay tuck-in just west of Golden Rock on Mayaguana's south-east reef, used by boats that find the swell at Southeast Point too lively.

Practical

ActiveCaptain (May 2024): anchored in about 15 ft just west of Golden Rock; poor holding - loose sand over flat rock - so one crew hooked a rock ledge with a 60-lb Bruce and all-chain and rigged a swell bridle. Only for light (10-15 kt) ESE to ENE winds and a few hours' rest before the next leg. GeoNames charts Golden Rock reef at about 22.30,-72.82.

Best for

A few hours' rest before heading to Turks and Caicos

Season

Light E winds only
