Captain Bill's Blue Hole (Blue Holes National Park)
24° 44.5′ N · 77° 51.7′ W
The park's most popular site: a nearly perfectly round blue hole more than 100 ft deep, reached by a short interpretive trail ending in a boardwalk and gazebo whose ledge, over 15 ft above the water, is the launch for the 'Leap of Faith'.
Practical
Position from OpenStreetMap (centroid of the mapped hole), in the southeastern corner of Blue Holes National Park in the Hard Bargain area; earlier versions of this entry used the park centroid, about 6 miles away. By road: north from Fresh Creek on Queen's Highway, left after the Ministry of Public Works building, then along unpaved Hanna Road (rough). Cosmos Mariners notes it is not tidal; picnic tables on site; life jackets recommended for weaker swimmers. Stairs and a floating dock let non-jumpers in; flotation devices on site; cabana and restrooms. Caution from BNT: the top layer is fresh water, which is less buoyant, so floating is harder than in the sea. Check whether the park has reopened (BNT shows 'Closed temporarily').
Best for
A freshwater swim and cliff jump
