Ben Bluff Anchorage
24° 27.3′ N · 75° 33.1′ W
An east-wind lee anchorage under the bluffs of central Cat Island with waterfront caves to the north and south, close to the Griffin Bat Cave and the Atlantic beaches.
Practical
Approach easily from the west; look for the waterfront cave. Bottom is light sand over rock in places: a 2014 boat failed four times to set. There is no landing at the anchorage itself; in 2018 the nearest was a tiny sandy spot about 1 mile north, and a 2023 report said even that had gone, leaving only rock for 2 nm. Best treated as an overnight lee spot in east wind.
Best for
Overnight shelter in east wind
Season
E winds only
