Bandit's Moorings (Spanish Wells Harbour)

25° 32.5′ N · 76° 44.6′ W · approximate

A small field of rental mooring buoys at the eastern end of Spanish Wells harbour, run by the local pilot known as 'Bandit' — the classic alternative to the marina inside the harbour, where anchoring is not possible.

Practical

Coordinate approx: placed at the eastern end of the harbour channel, between Ronald's Service Center (marinas.com) and the Charles Island anchorage (Waterway Guide), as described by Noonsite and marinas.com. Noonsite (2017) counted 6 buoys controlled by Bandit at the eastern end; marinas.com places moorings just NE of Charles Island and says to hail 'Cinnabar' on VHF 16. Valentines Resort lists Bandit as a Devil's Backbone pilot at 242-333-4695. Mooring fee: not published — verify locally. Harbour is open to winds funnelling from the east.
