Beach· Acklins Island· Bahamas — Eleuthera, Andros & the Out Islands
Attwood Harbour beach (Acklins Atlantic shore)
22° 43.0′ N · 73° 53.0′ W · approximate
The long curved beach that rims Attwood Harbour at the north end of Acklins, an empty Atlantic-side crescent that is the dinghy landing for the anchorage and the start of the walk to Chesters.
Practical
Position is GeoNames' Atwood Harbour point on the bay (the anchorage itself is at 22.7209, -73.8825 in this file). Land on the beach (BCG). Swell wraps into the bay in northerlies, so landings get wet when the anchorage is uncomfortable. Mangroves at the back of the bay hold turtles and rays.
Best for
Beachcombing and the walk ashore from Attwood Harbour
