Whale - Little Whale Cay Anchorage

25° 26.7′ N · 77° 45.9′ W

A flat anchorage tucked between Whale Point and Little Whale Cay with good protection from northeast round to southwest, used for staging to Eleuthera and Nassau.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position. Avoid the brown sea-grass areas, which are very shallow. Entering between Whale Cay and Little Whale Cay, stay in the northern third of the channel and keep to the southern edge of that third; rocks elsewhere. A February 2020 boat (5 ft draft) followed the Explorer inside route down from Bond's Cay at mid-tide, saw about 9 ft overall with a 7 ft spot, and anchored in 10-14 ft. Whole field of grass with no clear sand: back down hard. Room for three or more boats. Private islands; little beach access.
