Little Whale Cay Anchorage

25° 27.2′ N · 77° 45.6′ W

An anchorage on the north side of Little Whale Cay that works as an alternative to Chub or Bird Cay when coming from or going to Nassau, best in settled weather.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position. Use the suggested routing into the inlet; conditions can be rough for a few hundred yards at the entrance and settle inside. Grassy: a 40 ft catamaran set well only after backing down hard and anchored about 200 yards off the island (May 2021). Surge strong at some states of tide. Excellent BTC signal. The island is private. The sand bars off Cockroach Cay are a fun dinghy trip at low tide. 6 reviews, average 2.5.
