Anchorage· Grand Cay· Bahamas — North
Wells Bay (Grand Cay)
27° 13.9′ N · 78° 20.5′ W
A secluded anchorage off a beautiful beach on the west side of Grand Cay, with live conch in the shallows and good dinghy exploring. You'll mostly see local boats.
Practical
ActiveCaptain position. Fairly open; good in easterly winds with some southerly protection; holding good in the sand patches; don't push too far in, as it shoals near the beach. From the Sea of Abaco, round the long string of rocks off the south-west tip of Grand Cay and come straight in; the entrance cut to the south-west showed 7 ft at low tide (2017). Some snorkeling nearby; strong BTC coverage. Wild potcake dogs roam the island (2013). Not for west or north winds. Pre-Dorian reports.
Best for
Beach and solitude in east winds
